A Look Back at 2018 - My Favorite Outfits

Here it is, January of 2019! It is strange how as we age, time seems to go by faster and faster. Obviously, time and its passage does not change, but our perception of it can. The speed at which time seems to pass can seem a little scary, but we can attribute it to our much busier life styles. We start the day going about our normal routine and then all of a sudden we are getting ready for bed. Each day passes in the same manner and all of a sudden a week goes buy, then a month and then a year. That is exactly how we got here to the beginning of 2019.

To start the year off I thought I would do what many other bloggers do, by posting my favorite outfits from 2018. Here are my favorites. If you want to see the original post, I’ve provided the links.

January

Layering Love - Wearing a Vest over a Cardigan

Why I like it: There are several reasons I like this outfit. I really liked the idea of layering a vest over a cardigan. It gives the whole outfit a different look and adds texture. The other thing I like about this outfit is graphic tee. This is a Wonder Woman tee and epitomizes the characteristics I would like to have in my own life. I also like the tiny little touches of burgundy and red.

February

Ordinary Amy - Tomboy Memories

Why I like it: If you read the original post for this outfit, you’ll read about what inspired this look. I love bomber jackets, combat boots and just general military look. I also like how the red sweater brings out the pops of red in the jacket. The finishing touch is the airplane necklace, which reminds me of my Dad who served late in WWII doing Air/Sea search and rescue.

March

For this month I have two faves.

Pantone 2018 - Chili Oil, Arcadia and Lime Punch

Why I like it: I think it is the stark contrast between the white jeans and the other three colors. I think the fashion world has obliterated the idea that you can’t wear white in the winter time. It is the perfect color to brighten up any look. I also like these three Pantone colors. They are earthy, saturated and pair so well, and my little thrift store clutch polished the outfit off.

Pantone Spring 2018 - Pink Lavender, Blooming Dahlia and Emperador

Why I like it: Once again, I love this combination of colors. Pairing the Pink Lavender with Blooming Dahlia was a stretch for me, especially in the winter time. The addition of the Emperador (brown) moto jacket gives the whole outfit an edgy boho vibe.

April

Pantone Spring 2018 - Rapture Rose, Palace Blue and Harbor Mist

Why I like it: In my opinion, this is the perfect work outfit. It has class and color. Gone are the days of only wearing black or navy for a classic power look at your job. The layers provide warmth for a cool spring day or even into the summer for the overly air conditioned office.

May

Spring Transition - Floral Dress

Why I like it: I love the versatility of this thrifted H&M tunic. The breezy, fun, shape and the whimsical pattern make for a cute outfit when paired with these bright orange pants from JC Penney. I like the bohemian vibe of this tunic and it will be a repeater in my wardrobe.

June

Marvelous Maxi - The Dress Edition - Week 2

Why I like it: I like to think of this as a great summer resort outfit. You could wear this to the beach, out shopping and even to dinner. It is easy to throw on and comfortable to wear. The hat will protect from the sun and the dark wash chambray shirt provides a layer in the air conditioning. Throw a towel, book, sunscreen and sun glasses into the tote bag and your ready for a day at the shore.

July

Is it a Kimono or a Ruana? Week 2

Why I like it: There is nothing more classy than a pencil skirt. Paired with this blush colored tank and the southwest vibe striped ruana makes for an outfit that says feminine, creative and strong.

August

Is it a Kimono or a Ruana? Week 4

Why I like it: This is my kind of outfit, simple, casual yet dressy enough to wear to work or out for a casual lunch or dinner date and comfortable. Just because we are women and want to look polished and put together doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice comfort. I also love this color combination. The blue plays off of the olive and cream so well.

September

Once again I had two faves for this month.

Ordinary Amy: Blush Moto Jacket

Why I like it: I have to ask myself, what’s not to love? A good pair of jeans, a camo top, a blush moto jacket and olive colored booties and a bag? This is me to a tee! Nuff said!

Pantone Fall 2018 - Red Pear, Nebulas Blue and Sargasso Sea

Why I like it: My weird hair do aside, I really love this color combination. The colors are bright and fun and my red pants are kind of funky. This would be a good work outfit or a fun combo for meeting a few girlfriends for lunch. This also features one of my favorite thrift store finds, my Ralph Lauren blazer.

October

This was a hard month for me to pick just one or two, so I actually have three. Ha, ha.

Pantone Fall 2018 - Russet Orange, Ultra Violet and Quiet Gray

Why I like it: It seemed an odd color combination, but it worked! Combining orange and purple seems almost clownish, but this turned out to be one of my favorite combinations. Once again, my JC Penney pants are making an appearance. Never say never to a pair of bright colored pants. I also love the ruffle trimmed jacket that I scored on the clearance rack at Kohl’s.

Outfit Inspiration - Gingham and Olive

Why I like it: The pictures aren’t that great, but I just really like this combination of colors and pieces. The tank top under the button up and the turned up sleeves give it a fun, casual feel, while the snakeskin bag and loafer heels take it up a notch.

Ordinary Amy - Bootcut Jeans and Leopard Print

Why I like it: Just because it is so perfect! So there!

November

20 Days of Christmas - Slip Dress

Why I like it: It is outside my box to wear a slip dress, but this thrifted piece was perfect for this outfit. I’ll admit the dress is a little tight and I bought it just for the purpose of posting it on the blog. If I ever lose a few pounds I might actually wear this again. Ha, ha. My daughter/photographer and I both agree, this was one of our favorite places to shoot this past year and one of our favorite outfits.

December

Once again, I had two favorites.

20 Days of Christmas - Plaid Pants

Why I like it: I like this outfit for two reasons, it pushed me way out of my comfort zone and it is very festive looking, which is exactly what I wanted for this Christmas challenge. I also like the background. I know that has nothing to do with the actual outfit, but it does make for a more pleasing picture. Ha, ha.

20 Days of Christmas - Velvet Floral Top

Why I like it: I really like this combination of dark floral with blush distressed jeans. To me it just seems classy and edgy, which is my style.

I hope you enjoyed this look back at 2018. Which outfits were your favorites? I’d love to hear from you.

I hope your New Years day is relaxing and peaceful. Are you making any New Years resolutions this year? I am hoping to do some thinking on that today as it will be a good day to chill and get caught up on a few things around the house.

Have a great day.
