For My Friends: A Prayer of Transformation
The cross stands to transform us. We can be transformed to light or to darkness. My prayer is that you would go towards the light.
Dear Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Blessed Holy Spirit, I want to pray for my friends. You have blessed me with some very dear friends, both in my family and outside the cords of blood. These are women of deep character, women who desire to follow you, women who struggle as caterpillars transforming into butterflies, to become Christ-like.
I pray that they would see the cross that symbolizes Your death and be transformed by it. When they face another day of caring for their little ones - transformed into loving mothers who speak to their children's hearts. When they face the isolation that has resulted from difficulty in their marriages - transformed into wives who choose to bear Your fruit. When they face choices as to their parents' well being - transformed into daughters that are wise with the wisdom from above. When they must go to that same job that seems to lack luster and excitement - transformed into an employee who does her work with honesty, joy and gratitude.
I also pray for the deeper struggles. When they face the challenges of parenting adult children - transformed into women who can let go. When they face the trial of disharmony in their relationships - transformed into people who can bend and be peace makers. When they are struck down by illness, age or disease - transformed as one who waits patiently on You. When they walk through the valley of the shadow with one they love - transformed into a source of light and strength.
Lord, I know that it is because of Your death on the cross and your resurrection that I am able to pray this prayer. And I thank You! Thank You for the friends You have blessed me with. Thank You that by their friendship I am supported, encouraged and challenged to be transformed as well.
In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
